Poly & Carbon Orthotics
Polypropylene (PP), also known as polypropene, is a thermoplastic polymer used in a wide variety of applications.
Poly is a stiff yet flexible, which is useful for creating stronger rigid inserts that take up less space inside a shoe. Poly orthotics can be made in various shapes with specialised posts to suit most podiatric foot orthotic applications.
Footpoint's lab still maintains the heat moulding process to preserve the monomer properties (the flexibility) ... after all, the foot was designed to move even in a controlled state!
Poly Orthotics thickness, arch fills etc are all dependent on the clinicians requirements.
Materials range from the flexible 2mm, 3mm or increasing stiffness 4mm, then various carbon fibre types depending the performance and fit application. 3mm is the standard choice.
